Slum Lord
Slum Lord
Can you manage to acquire all properties in the city (through unethical means), without ultimately triggering a violent citizen revolt?
How to Play
Controls
- Movement: WASD
- Camera rotation: Q/E, left/right arrows, or hold right click and move mouse
- Honk: space
- Accelerate: left shift
Mechanics
Buildings have 3 tiers: enshittified, normal, and gentrified
| Effect | Enshittified | Base | Gentrified |
| Income over time | Negative | Positive | Positive |
| Neighbour valuation influence | Negative | None | Positive |
| Citizen revolt | High | None | Low |
- All buildings have a valuation which impacts the income over time (rent), and the price to purchase/upgrade
- Enshittifying any tier of building is free
- Gentrifying a building has a scaling price based on the tier, and the current building valuation
- If you max out the citizen revolt meter, they will kill you!
A successful strategy involves purchasing cheap buildings adjacent to expensive buildings you would like to acquire. You can enshittify the cheap building, and wait until the negative influence drives the price of the neighbouring buildings to $0. Acquire them for free, and then gentrify your original building to watch their property values increase to up to 500% of their original price!
